Marriott reflags Dearborn Ritz to The Henry

Marriott International Inc. will bring its latest hotel concept to the Detroit area as it replaces the Ritz Carlton name in Dearborn with a new brand.

Known as being part of the Ritz Carlton chain of luxury hotels since it was built 21 years ago, the hotel at 300 Town Center Drive has been renamed The Henry and will be part of Marriott’s new Autograph portfolio of hotels.

Bethesda, M.D.-based Marriott launched the Autograph line in November as “upper upscale and luxury, independent, hotels with distinctive personalities in major cities and desired destinations worldwide,” according to a press release issued at the time.

Ritz-Carlton pulling out of Michigan

Luxury hotelier Ritz-Carlton is pulling out of Michigan. The elite hotel at Fairlane Town Centre in Dearborn will cease operations on June 2, 2010.  The new brand that will replace the Ritz has not been announced.

Prior to the recession, the Fairlane area sported three major luxury hotels: The Dearborn Inn – Marriott, Hyatt Regency, and Ritz-Carlton. The major draw for the hotels is conventions, balls, and the close proximity to Ford World Headquarters and Henry Ford Museum/Greenfield Village.
