Is this a resort or college dorm?

Some students at Richard Stockton College of New Jersey may soon be trading their dorm beds for rooms at a four-star golf resort and spa.

The South Jersey college finalized a $20 million deal today to buy the historic Seaview Resort in Galloway Township, campus officials said. The unusual purchase means the public college will add a turn-of-the-century hotel, spa and two golf courses to its nearby campus in Atlantic County.

The resort will continue to be open to the public. But part of the hotel will also be used to house students, allowing Stockton to offer on-campus housing to all undergraduates after years of turning students away from crowded dorms, school officials said.

A new driveway and entrance will be built for students living at the resort, so they are kept separate from hotel guests, campus officials said. Only honor students, graduate students and hospitality majors will be permitted to room at the hotel.
